ATN Wants You . . . To Share Your Story

The Attachment & Trauma Network (ATN) seeks bloggers for the “Our Voices” section of our website, a.k.a. the ATN blog. Not sure if your story fits? Read on to learn more.

Parents

ATN was originally founded by parents, for other parents. We all have stories to tell, and we all need to know we’re not alone. Don’t know where to start?

Try these ideas on for size:

  • The worst day
  • The best day
  • What worked for me and my child
  • An epic parenting fail
  • My journey then and now

Or read some of our past parenting posts (these are just three among dozens!):

The Lion Sleeps Tonight by Carol Monaco

Expectation vs. Reality by Lorraine Fuller

I Wish I Hadn’t Adopted by D. Craig Peterson

Therapists, Parenting Coaches, etc.

We parents of traumatized children would love to pick your brains! Others probably would as well. Try these questions to get those creative juices flowing:

  • What tips do you have for those raising or working with kids affected by early childhood trauma?
  • How has your understanding of childhood trauma grown or evolved?
  • Has recent research into childhood trauma, especially ACE scores, affected the type(s) of therapy that you do?

You can also read some previous posts by therapists:

Educators

ATN focuses heavily on creating trauma-sensitive schools. We have a conference that is growing exponentially, and we have talked with educators all across the country who want to do better by our nation’s children. Sadly, we don’t (yet) have many posts by teachers, even though they have so much to share! So tell us:

  • How have trauma-informed practices changed your teaching?
  • What advice would you give to teachers who want to become more trauma-informed?
  • How might parents and therapists partner with you to create positive learning environments for every child?

You may be wondering…

Do I have to be a writer?

Nope. All you need is your story. You can send even the very barest of bare story bones to me, Laura, the ATN Blog Manager at [email protected]. I will work with you to shape it into a full-fledged post.

Daunted by sending even a single bone, but still think you have a story to tell? Reach out to me anyway. We can have a chat, and I will do my best to lend my pen (or keyboard) to your story. Or maybe we can publish it together in the form of an interview.

What if I don’t fit into one of the above categories?

Doesn’t matter. Send us your story anyway. If it’s related to childhood trauma, there’s a good chance it could find a home with us.

How often will I have to submit new posts?

As often as you want. Maybe you just have this one thing you want to get off your chest and then you’ll call it good. Perhaps you want to be a regular contributor. Maybe you want something in between. As a volunteer-driven organization, we at ATN know how life can be. We will work with you in any way we can to make your story dreams comes true.
