Calm Kit

This kit is designed for educators and those who work with children to have a basic kit of tools and ideas for helping students to “Get Regulated” (one of the trauma-informed essentials taught at ATN).

  • Silicone Sponge. Good for tactile and proprioceptive sensory input. Can easily be carried and also popped into the microwave to sanitize. Doesn’t hurt if thrown.
  • Pinwheel. Great tool to help younger children learn “belly breathing” because they have to take a deep breath and then slowly exhale.
  • Connected Messages. Relationship-building notes to give to students.
  • Brain Noodle™ – soft tactile input, bendable into variety of shapes.
  • Color-changing pencil
  • Water wheel timer – for deep breathing and mindfulness
  • Calm Strips ™- tactile input with adhesive to stick on desk, notebook, etc.
  • Wall push-up poster – working bigger muscles for physical release.
  • Chair bands – working bigger muscles for physical release.
  • Yellow therabands- for cross-body arm stretches.

Each kit comes with a QR code that takes you to a page of videos that show how and why each of these items is in the Calm Kit and gives you additional resources on helping children build better regulation skills.
