Cindy Blasi: The Social Worker’s Role in a Trauma-Sensitive School

Cindy Blasi, alongside her school’s principal, is propelling Derby Hills Elementary in western Kansas toward being trauma-informed. Cindy details the journey and her  active role in teaching the staff, supporting the teachers and infusing mindfulness, brain science, and self-regulation skills in the whole school. The whole process has been slow but thorough, allowing time for the shift in mindset to “sink in” and for relationships to be purposefully developed to address the whole child.
