Meet Diana Careaga, MPH – ATN Board

Diana Careaga brings more than 25 years of experience in public health and program design, with a strong foundation in maternal and child health and deep roots in community engagement. Currently she works for First 5 LA, a public entity in Los Angeles with the mission to advocate for children and their families, amplify community voice, and partner for collective impact so that children reach their full developmental potential in the critical years of prenatal to age 5. As the Director of the Family Supports Department, Diana’s work focuses on enhancing family well-being by ensuring that parents and caregivers have the resources they need to support their children’s well-being and healthy development. Her efforts include guiding strategies that coordinate services and partnership efforts and advance policy and systems change to improve how families access early supports.

Diana has completed numerous training programs, including the National Leadership Academy for the Public’s Health and the Echo Center’s Trauma Informed Care and Resilience training program and non-violent parenting series. She is driven by a passion for family-centered and trauma-informed approaches in early childhood and systems change.

The daughter of immigrant parents, Diana earned her master’s degree in public health from UCLA and her bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of California, Davis. In her personal time, Diana and her husband enjoy spending time with her children and pets, as well as traveling and hiking.

Diana is currently Secretary for ATN’s Board of Directors.
